Bio: Jean Baumard, enologist and educator, spent his entire life growing Chenin Blanc in Rochefort-sur-Loire where his family has farmed since 1634. He was considered by many to be a master of Chenin Blanc, and more importantly, was one of the few vignerons that brought quality and prominence back to the regions of Quarts de Chaume and Savennières.

When he bought land in Savennieres in the 1970's, it was unheard of for a vigneron to be on both sides of the river. Jean also promoted and practiced sustainable viticulture since he joined the family business in 1953. His innovations and dedication to the vineyard cannot be overstated. When he retired in the early 1990's and his son Florent took over, Jean created an oenology course at Université d'Angers.

Florent vintages honor his father's legacy of exceptional farming and quality.
