2018 Aldo Conterno 'Conca Tre Pile', Barbera d'Alba | Langhe, Piedmont, Italy

Varietal(s): Barbera

Vineyard Management: Practicing Organic

Winemaking: native yeast fermentation, aged in large Slovenian Botti, Unfined/Unfiltered

Vegan: Yes

Typicity: Yes.

Bio: Aldo Conterno became one of the preeminent makers of modern Barolo in the 1970's after parting ways with his brother Giovanni and setting out on his own. Although his style was more traditional than modern in practice, his sons continue the work with Giacomo Conterno at the helm.

Only copper and sulfur are allowed in the vineyard, wines are aged in traditional large botti instead of the more modern French barrique, and are bottled without fining or filtering.

This bottling is a way to experience their winemaking style without jumping headlong into their Barolos.
