Varietal(s): 75% Pecorino, 25% Chardonnay
Vineyard Management: Certified Organic
Winemaking Techniques: Stainless Steel, Native yeast fermentation, Unfined/Unfiltered
Typicity: Atypical. It's a zesty, cloudy frizzante that should be enjoyed without much fuss.
Bio: While this is an experimental offshoot from Poggio Anima, this is a single vineyard bottling hailing from the Monteodorisio Vineyard in Chieti, Abruzzo. The vineyard was one of the first to be certified organic in all of Italy in 1978.
Nicola and wife Frederia Marchesani are the third generation to work the vineyard and continue to push for transparency, quality and of course, good wine. This bottling is hand harvested and first fermentation with native yeasts occurred in stainless steel tanks. The wine is bottled, topped with unfermented juice and crown capped to undergo a second fermentation and capture the frizzante.
