Varietal(s): Pinot Noir

Typicity: Typical of the new wave of winemakers in California.
Bio: Lioco winery was originally founded in 2005 by Kevin O'Connor and Matt Licklider-who back then where slinging wines of massive proportion at Spago. They wanted to recreate the more reserved, nuanced styles they remembered from the 1980's.
Now owned and operated by Matt and Sara Licklider, the wines are still the picture of classic beauty that California can conjure. They prefer older vines, dry-farmed and do their very best to stay out of the way of the wine in the cellar. I imagine them more as viticultural treasure hunters than winemakers-with their wines being dictated by the old vine sites they seek.
