Typicity: Typical, although their vineyards (La Ponche + Bel Air) are planted at the highest elevations for the region. Expect a bit more intensity than is found at lower elevations of the Rhone.

Winemaker: Thierry Faravel + Giles Faravel

Bio: This domaine is very much a family affair. Antonin Faravel began working for  Domaine Pierre Amadieu at age 14, eventually rising to the estate's vineyard manager. He began planting his owns vines on a parcel Antonin inherited in the shadow of the Dentelles de Montmirail after the frost of 1956 destroyed the grove of olive trees. He sold his grapes to Amadieu until 1978, when Antonin began to make his own wine. In 1988, Thierry and Giles took over when their father passed unexpectedly. Giles still farms their parcels organically as their father would have done. Thierry manages the cellar, and now with more than 36 years of experience still finds himself learning new ways to better vinify their harvest each year.

Their youngest sister, Josaine, handles all the administration and office duties and their mother, Genevieve, still runs the family owned wine shop in town.
